Configuring the XviD Codec |
|
The XviD codec offers two methods for video encoding:
Below you can see how to configure the XviD codec in either modes easily. |
|
From the Profiles list select the Home Theater option, using PAL if your video is in 25 FPS, or NTSC otherwise. Then chose the Single pass encoding type from the other list. Click the Target quantizer button to change it to Target bitrate. You can calculate this bitrate using the Calc button and entering the proper values in the required fields, or with the DivXLand Bitrate Calculator. If you are encoding anime/cartoon videos, you may want to enter the Zone Options to activate the Cartoon mode setting, which uses a special motion estimation feature. Click OK and proceed to save the file as explained in the guide you were following. |

If you are encoding anime/cartoon videos, you may want to enter the Zone Options to activate the Cartoon mode setting, which uses a special motion estimation feature. Click OK and proceed to save the file as explained in the guide you were following. Once the first pass encoding is done, return to this dialog again and select the Two pass - 2nd pass encoding type. Click the Target quantizer button to change it to Target bitrate. You can calculate this bitrate using the Calc button and entering the proper values in the required fields, or with the DivXLand Bitrate Calculator. Now proceed to save the AVI file again. This time the codec will use the information gathered previously to compress the video with better quality. |
