Configuring the DivX 6 Codec |
|
The DivX codec offers two methods for video encoding:
Below you can see how to configure the DivX codec in either modes easily. |
|
Select the Home Theater option from the profiles drop-down list. Then chose the 1-pass encoding mode from the other list, and enter the video bitrate calculated earlier with DivXLand Bitrate Calculator. Switch to the Codec tab and select the Balanced option from the list. Notice that using a higher quality here will result in a much slower encoding process. At the Video tab, make sure to have the Keep resolution option active. Click OK and proceed to save the file as explained in the guide you were following. |

Select the Home Theater option from the profiles drop-down list. Then chose the Multipass, 1st pass encoding mode from the other list, and enter the video bitrate calculated earlier with DivXLand Bitrate Calculator. Switch to the Codec tab and select the Balanced option from the list. Notice that using a higher quality here will result in a much slower encoding process. At the Video tab, make sure to have the Keep resolution option active. Click OK and proceed to save the file as explained in the guide you were following. Once the first pass encoding is done, return to this dialog again and select the Multipass, Nth pass encoding mode and proceed to save the AVI file again. This time the codec will use the information gathered previously to compress the video with better quality. |
